- The Wish, Written by Dr. W. Pope, Fellow of the Royal Society, The Third Edition, being the only correct and finished copy, London, printed for Tho. Horne, at the South-Entrace of the Royal Exchange, 1710 (first ed., 1697); quoted under pad-nag in the 1773 Dict. SJ also quotes the chorus of this poem in the Grammar of the English Tongue in the 1755 and 1773 Dicts. (See Yale vol. 18, p.358.) A favorite song of B. Franklin.
